Depression is when the waves of a turbulent sea overwhelm unsuspecting ships and drown their passengers. However, these waves can be overcome by dealing with the triggers. Sometimes, what overwhelms us and causes depression is disorganization. Lack of delegation, prioritization, a daily to do list, and a meeting schedule will lead to anxiety.

Most times, people get stressed out and overwhelmed by work because they don’t set up their day for productivity. Other times, those who eventually plan daily tasks don’t do it in order of priority. So, they end up doing low-risk projects first and risking those with severe consequences if left undone. Such disorganization cause life to spiral out of control and lead to depression.

In her book, “HEALING YOUR DEPRESSION,” Apostle L’Tanya C. Perry, MDiv. wrote,“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect”.Romans 12:2(NIV). When you closely check the underlying cause of your depression, it might be because you began to give excessive attention and energy to what does not matter. Undoubtly, it is good to be prosperous, well known, sophisticated, and have other good things. But, prioritizingand making them the reason for your existence might rob you of your joy when things start falling apart or refuse to work out as planned. More reason (Romans 12:2) encourages us to allow God to help us change how we think.

Apostle Perry added on the subject of reorganization, “Elyse Fitzpatrick in her book on depression wrote that “In some ways, depression is a slow, painful death of desire, the heart-sickness that comes from repeatedly having hope deferred (Prov. 13:12). Hope that sustains the heart when pursuing a treasured desire has faded (or disappeared) in the depressed.” Hope differed means disappointment, failure, etc. Being disorganized eventually leads to missed opportunities and failure, which in turn can induce depression. So many people just need to learn organizational skills to be more successful in life.
